The City of Ellensburg held a public input workshop for community members to provide feedback on the City’s Clean Energy Implementation Plan (CEIP). Scheduled for completion this year, the CEIP will outline how the City of Ellensburg will continue to deliver safe, reliable, affordable, and clean electricity from 2026 through 2029.
The CEIP supports the goals set by the Washington State Clean Energy Transformation Act (CETA), which aims to transition the state’s electricity supply to be free of greenhouse gas emissions. The law includes eliminating coal by 2025, achieving carbon neutrality by 2030, and transitioning to 100% clean energy by 2045. While the City of Ellensburg already sources nearly 90% clean energy from Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) resources, the CEIP represents the next phase in the City’s commitment to serving the community—especially those who may experience greater impacts during the clean energy transition.
