Citizen's Academy
What is the Citizen’s Academy?
The Citizen’s Academy is a program designed to provide participants a working knowledge of the Ellensburg Police Department. It consists of classes and discussions where citizens learn about the duties and responsibilities of our department and the citizen’s role in the interaction of police and citizens over a series of six classroom meetings and field trips. In addition to helping citizens better understand the police department, it in turn helps the police department better understand the citizens and their concerns.

Classes and Topics discussed at the Citizen's Academy include:
  • Department History/Tour
  • EVOC - Driving Course
  • Use of Force - Classroom and Range
  • Criminal Law and Investigations
  • Patrol Procedures
  • K9 Demo
  • Jail Tour/KITTCOM Tour
  • Domestic Violence

Check back in the fall for applications to the 2017 Citizen's Academy.
