Ellensburg's Commitment to Energy Conservation
Over the past 33 years, Ellensburg has been one of the Northwest leaders in energy conservation. During this period our light utility, with funding from Bonneville Power Administration, has completed over $16 million in conservation projects. In 2014 our conservation projects saved our customers about 766,284 kwh or $48,000 per year.
Conservation projects include; weatherization, commercial lighting and several conservation projects completed by Central Washington University. (See 2015 Energy Services Annual Report)
We just started a new 2 year $510,000 budget cycle with BPA October 1, 2015. Projects will be taken on a first come first serve basis until funding is fully committed. Projects must be completed and all required documentation submitted later no than September 15th, 2017 to receive funding.
Residential Conservation Programs
Energy Services currently offers incentives for insulation to help homeowners improve the energy efficiency of their homes. Application forms may be completed online and submitted for review and a rebate offer.
Commercial Conservation Programs
Funding is also available to our business community through our commercial conservation programs. The most popular is for lighting upgrades and we now have a special promotional offering for small businesses under 20,000 sq. ft. (see details) that has a higher incentive rate. Application forms may be completed online and submitted for review and a rebate offer.
