The Ellensburg Parks and Recreation Department provides an extensive range of programs and services for the community to enhance the lives of community members, residents, and visitors. The Parks and Recreation Department maintains and operates four indoor, year-round recreation facilities including a senior center, a municipal pool and fitness center, a youth and community center, as well as a racquet and recreation center.
On Thursday, May 26, staff met with Allana, Buick and Bers at the City Pool to discuss steps in finalizing a work plan for re-opening the facility to the public. The preliminary schedule has a contractor on-site the week of May 30th to begin the process of removing brick sections from the east, south and west sides of the building. The process is estimated to take at least two weeks. It is anticipated that with the brick removed, and assuming no other facility safety concerns are revealed, the pool will be able to re-open to the public. However, we still do not have a definite date for re-opening the pool.

We have received a preliminary report regarding the failure of the brick façade. We are currently reviewing the report to begin to establish a plan. The pool will remain closed until further notice.
Swimming lesson refunds have received their final approval and will be mailed out today.
At this point, there has been no change in the communication with CWU regarding pool facility access.
We appreciate your patience and understanding.
